Folks, it has been an honor. I thought long and hard how to do this strip. I was even going to pull a Harry Potter and show them all grown up with kids of their own. But I decided, keep it simple, give the audience what they want. I, myself, have been wanting Mitty to say yes to Barrel, and I couldn’t think of a better way then making it sound as if it was Barrel’s fault for her not going out with him. And last panel just sort of fit. Its the first, and only, time all four characters have been together in a single panel. I hope this strip and our story didn’t let you guys down.
Brad and I can not thank all of you enough for the unconditional support. You all hold a special place in our hearts. And your strips hold a spot in our bookmarks!
See you starside!
Thats right folks! MORE fan art! This awesome pic comes from our good buddy Joel Poirier. And is obviously inspired my NCBrads never ending supply of virtual rice crispy treats. You can find Joel’s bangin comic here! Many, many thanks Mr. Poirier!
Ok, so first off, yes. I did steal the ‘Ramblings’ blog title from Roland Perez over at Metal Jaw Comics.
As a lot of you regular readers know, I tend to keep to the shadows. NCBrad takes care of the day in/day out stuff, i.e. Facebook and Twitter posts, interacting with everyone and is continuously bringing in new readers. I enjoy maintaining the site and just seeing what others have to say about our strip. I think it works nicely that way.
I figured Id jump on here and just voice some of my opinions about current events. And though some of you all may disagree or not even read past this sentence, Im still going to keep going on. First off: the big debate of print vs digital comics. DC has REALLY been pushing the digital comics scene, and Im not sure why. If any of you al follow Jim Lee on twitter, he is constantly voicing why digital comics need to start becoming dominant. Sorry Mr. Lee, but I disagree. And just as mp3s made their impact on the world, any passionate music junkie will tell you, nothing beats going to the music store and buying that brand new CD. Same principle with comics. There’s something about driving to the local comic shop and picking up a stack of freshly printed comics and then adding them to the collection box. And though digital comics may be more convenient, its not the way. Now, I can see the golden age comics becoming digital. That would awesome. I have never read Action Comics #1 or Detective Comics #27 and I would greatly like to. So in that light, yes, I wouldn’t mind some OLDER comics becoming digitized. But as for brand spankin’ new ones; PLEASE keep them rolling onto shelf.
Moving on, the DC reboot. Again these are my opinions. If you don’t like them, oh well. Go eat a Chik-O-Stik. I think the reboot is awesome. That’s right. Awesome. I have been collecting comics since I can remember. But I have had to revert to Google, Wikipedia, The DC/Marvel Encyclopedias for the histories of my most beloved characters. Which is fine. I enjoy that. But to be part of an entire comic movement. Come on people, how cool is that. People these days want to be so negative about everything and give nothing a chance. Superman doesn’t have his red speedo. Big deal. I get to read Superman Numero Uno. I hope in 50 years Im sitting in my old man recliner telling my grandkids, ‘I remember when the first [reboot] of Superman came out.’ That is something they probably wont get to be a part of. I applaud DC for doing this, and as I am more of Marvel guy, Im getting tired of heroes dying and coming back and joining new teams or superheroes getting replaced by someone else. Follow DCs footsteps and start from scratch. Folks are also saying they dont like the suits. Do none of you realize how ridiculous those suits had to of looked back in the 50s and 60s. Im sure everyone then was saying OMG! This is garbage! Blah blah blah. Just as everyone is saying now. Please, stop your whining and enjoy the fact that all of us true comic lovers get to be part of this.
Lastly, Recent movies. And I know this has to seem like I am typing a thesis, but this is my last topic. For now. Thor: awesome. Xmen: FC: super awesome. Green Lantern: decent. Again going back to all those negative folks out there. EVERYONE has ridiculed each of those movies, including myself on Xmen. I was wrong. As was all the others who never seem to give comic movies a chance. They enjoy calling themselves fans and yet also enjoy bashing every little thing that comes out relating to comics. I really hope those folks, at some point, cheer up and lead happy lives. I am stoked for Cap and will probably see Transformers 3 at midnight also (despite that trash of movie- Transformers 2) Anyways, that’s all I have for now. Be on the look out for a video game post. I already started thinking of it while typing this.
Never give up. Never Surrender.
Another great piece from Warren Frantz! Many thanks Warren! Sorry again it took so long to get up for people to see. It is always nice to get fan art. Especially when its sent to us UNEXPECTED! Thanks again, Anthony!
